I agreed as I work in the private sector myself….the government should “cooperate” more with the sector ..a few months ago, at work, I found a case, our customer, a Thai worker who went for short term labour in Finland got a ‘Hantavirus’ which I have never heard of it before…as most of my work is about people who reside in Thailand and go out…[Read more]

I think one of the critical factors that make outbreak investigation succeed is information quality throughout the steps. Starting from even before the outbreak is detected, the internet network and user-friendly data exchange system like mobile web-application could help local health authorities, and the central surveillance agency comes to the…[Read more]

Considering factors to choose what disease needs a surveillance system, I’d like to select a Pneumonia because of; (reference: http://www.boe.moph.go.th/Annual/AESR2015/aesr2558/Part%201/05/pneumonia.pdf)
1. High burden: 215,951 cases reported in 2015 (morbidity rate 330.06/100,000)
2. Severity: 486 deaths reported in 2015 (mortality rate…[Read more] -

If we consider all of the three based on the mortality rate in Thailand, influenza is the lowest at around 0.05 following with Dengue fever at around 0.13. And If we base on the fact that people who are diagnosed with hypertension is likely to develop Coronary Artery Disease in later life and the CAD has a mortality rate quite high at around…[Read more]

For me, in the insurance field, especially travel insurance, the sub-field I work for are about population. In my claim operation, we rarely use epidemiological approaches to get ready and be prepared for endemic/pandemic, or even any preventable/predictable medical conditions. I think, by taking this course, I can gain more ideas about how to…[Read more]

Hi Khun Tullaya… I agreed with you that without physical examination this app. will help in a limited way. I have not thought about the second opinion, you raised, which the patient already has some document given by first treating doctor. It must be very useful in that way as it’s not needed to see a doctor in person. However, the app is…[Read more]

Hi Khun Tullaya….Changing behaviour is one of the hardest approaches and even more difficult when to sustain. You and your project’s member are so dedicated and you must have push so many efforts to changes their health behaviour. At my company, we use the LINE in our medical assistance too. It’s easy to use and it’s a 24/7 accessible,…[Read more]

Hi Khun Chalermphon….After watching your video, I’m thinking about merging your project with TB referral system by Khun Thongchai. Good health care may be inaccessible to the rural area both in Thailand and our neighbouring country. What if your system is enhanced or equipped with media options, EMR, and give this app. to trained public health…[Read more]

Hi Khun Patcharapol…Your big idea is in the direction where health informatics is going to and I like it as I also would like my GP to make me more informed about my health. However, I have a question about the patient’s access. Does it only for patients to see their personal health data or will they be allowed to manage, make changes or add up…[Read more]

Hi Khun Nakarin….I would like to add some comments more to of Khun Tullaya…. apart from the clinical concerns detailed by her as Endocrinologist, I think the point that the data must be filled into the application by the patient themself may affect the adherence of the self-monitoring. The cost is quite cheap comparing to other automated…[Read more]

Hi Khun Thanachol….I used to try the app — Dr. Me but not an active user any longer. The only problem for me is that it’s too demanding for me to add information about my health behaviour every day manually. However, the app is for sure beneficial to detect the disease at an early stage to prevent transmitting. This app could be a personal h…[Read more]

Khun Supawat…Your idea is needed! As I know our Thai physician is well known for the excellent management of dengue fever. The same as Khun Tullaya, the big data will help us get closer to pattern and probability of the disease’s severity. May I ask you both, what is the most critical factor, can be detected at an early stage leading to severe…[Read more]

Khun Penpitcha….This project reminds me of the Cholera outbreak dated back in 1854 in London. Then, it’s believed that the disease is airborne. A British doctor tried to figure out sources of the outbreak. They eventually found that a public well where people use for drinking water is the reservoir. The question I would like to ask you more…[Read more]

Khun Thongchai…I like this kind of ideas to help improve the public health of our neighbouring countries. The disease itself is borderless so we have to fight back with the borderless ideas like this. However, I have a question so I can learn more from your projects. Hi Tullaya….I think doing research is nothing if we don’t spread out the result and collected data to our peer community…that’s why the academic journals are so important to make an advancement in scientific development…I think the ethics committee may have solutions for us to do that while still comply with research ethics

I think there are chances for the project to give the data out for another project and it’s not against the ethical. The difference between legal and ethical is that there is no punishment for doing against the later, except maybe the social sanction from the peer community. It’s all about moral practice. Research should already have foreseen some…[Read more]

Maybe she knew, but no reason for her to tell me or anyone that her husband got the virus which is stigmatized. I think the treating doctor is obliged to tell her husband about the risk of transmitting to her and he/she might have done the duties.
