According to a paper by Shaw T, et al. on “What is eHealth (6)?”, there are several definitions that can explain “eHealth”. In your opinion, what should be a definition of eHealth?

In my opinion, the definition of eHealth should be “an emerging field of an intersection of medical informatics field, public health field, and business practice that deliver health care to the consumer, improving the quality of health care, and enabling consumer’s centered health care”
I agree with the concept of eHealth is a way of thinking rather than only the technology of health care, because speaking of eHealth we are not only talking about using the internet and related technology to improve health care service, but it changes the way people performing self-care, seeking medical cares, accessing medical services, and even the way medical professions learn and share knowledge.

I basically agree with the definition of eHealth suggested by Shaw T, et al. However, as quoted in the paper, the potential benefits and improvements that they afford such as “better, faster, safer, more patient-centric, broadening horizons” could be more emphasized as a goal of the initiative.

I agree on emphasizing that eHealth enables patient-centered care. The healthcare system has long been transitioning from disease-based to patient-based care. eHealth technologies would help facilitate in achieving this goal.

Taken all in consideration, eHealth can simply be defined as “technologies facilitating access to health service or data through interconnected communication networks”. As pointed out by the author and Black et al, eHealth technologies have 3 main overlapping functions – enable storage, retrieval, and transmission of data; support clinical decision making; and facilitate remote care. In my opinion, this definition is greatly synonymous to these functions.
While this may miss out the definition suggested in the Shaw et al paper, putting out a simple definition would help in resolving the complexity brought about by the concept of eHealth and its essence in public health.

I would say e-health is about making the best use of technology for the health and well-being of the public. I very much agree that technology is the enabler for health practitioner and researcher to enhancing existing services, developing innovation, a better-targeted healthcare, and improving people quality life in general.

We can see that Shaw T, et al. suggestion regarding eHealth includes three overlapping domains ( health in our hands, Interacting for health, and Data enabling health).
In my opinion, eHealth should be focused on the three components of values, cost-effectiveness, customer satisfaction, and outcomes. Also, the big challenging issues in a digital world are the privacy and security of personal data which should be securely managed.-

In my point of view, I think of eHealth as the implementation of the information technology on the healthcare settings which covering the three domains (health in our hands, interacting for health, and data enabling health). On top of that, it should be able to cut the cost and improve the outcomes and take the potential risks into account.

In my opinion, eHealth can refer to “the use of technology to support health and enhance professional practices”. It allows patient/people to monitor their health, and also support clinicians/health professionals practice through the use of information technology. I also like the quote in the article mentioned that “eHealth… the right tools in the right place being able to be used by the patients and the clinicians, and really that just supports the delivery of the best possible care”

From my perspective, eHealth definition should be “using technology combined with relative knowledge to facilitate healthcare to be better in the way of patient and healthcare provider-centric approach “. Examples of knowledge that is used along with technology are business, health informatics, and public health. The purpose of the implementation of eHealth is not only benefited patients but also healthcare providers.

In my opinion, eHealth is about using technology or new tools integrated with health data to improve all aspects of the healthcare system, including healthcare policy, healthcare service, patient’s care, patient’s satisfaction, best treatment option, treatment outcome, health research project, and overall health quality.

In my opinion, the definition of eHealth should be “combining digital technology and ICT service to connect between healthcare provider and population, to promote coverage, efficiency, and safety of healthcare service”
According to Shaw T, et al, 3 domains of eHealth including 1) Health in our hands 2) Interacting for health and 3) data enabling health. I agree with their suggestion about eHealth initiatives should be covered by all of those domains.

eHealth, in my opinion, is to use knowledge in technology combining with knowledge about public health, clinical, management, business and others to provider maximum benefits in improving health quality. eHealth can improve health quality by maximized efficiency of healthcare providers including effectiveness of services, management and research, and help patient to access to maximum benefit of healthcare services.

According to a research paper from T. shaw, The definition of e-health is an implementation of information technology that covering three domains Health in our hands, Interacting for health, and data enabling health.
I think the definition of e-health by T. shaw is concise. But I would like to think that all the health and medical technology have the same goal. To improve the quality of care and optimize the efficiency and efficacy of the healthcare system. -
