I agree with you about continuously assessing vulnerabilities in the system. For the problem that you mentioned in the case study about the misconfiguration that left the system insecure, prevention might be easy as changing the default password of the network hardware from “user: admin, password:admin” to another username!

In my opinion, the reputation of the third-party vendor (which includes the latest technology in security and good practice in handling data) is important when choosing vendors to handle health data.

The disaster recovery plan is very important even for normal situations when there is no cyberattack event. Hardware failure, power outages, and other scenarios that interrupt the system can cause the workflow of the whole hospital to stop. Having a backup server or a plan to use manual paper-based input to run the hospital is still necessary.
