It is a nice idea to have telehealth for the diseases that patients can monitor themselves and send the data via an application to health care providers. Health care providers can make a decision in real-time for any extreme glucose level and patients might reduce the frequency of their hospital visits if they can control their glucose level. It…[Read more]

Aj Saranath, I still wonder about the definition of big data. Is it a definition for defined the volume of data or it defined for the application or system that can catch all data and process it? As you mentioned for EMR as a big data, but EMR itself didn’t have all other Vs characteristic unless we doing something with that data.

I agree that EMR is BIG data by means of volume. However, by EMR itself is not really matched with big data definition ( by xV criteria). We need to add some features like machine learning, data visualization to process data in EMR to get the new outcome or process activity.

The supervision by the IT team of the hospital or other consultants during the upgrade program by third-party vendors should also be implemented and will help in reducing this error.
The third party vendors need to understand the data privacy rule by HIPAA. -

Human error is hard to manage. In this case, I’m not sure whether it is intentionally or not to publish private information online. If it unintentionally, the systems should have an alert for private data before they go online or use double authorization to recheck for the private data that will go online. However, if this event occurred…[Read more]

As a clinician, I totally agree with these findings. I totally agree with you Dr Saranart. As I mentioned in my response, the first HIS project in my hospital still use only some part. However, originally they want to launch HIS project in OPD setting after IPD setting. After a lot of resistant occured, the HIS project for OPD is withdrawn and we use only a paper-based scanning and storage system.
