In the case study of the surveillance of melioidosis disease, the inconsistency of the data leads to an underestimated situation and the consequence of it might be planning mistakes for the future: do not have enough budget, staff, equipment for doing outbreak investigation of the disease of interest, lack of interest of melioidosis or left behind…[Read more]

We can apply IT in every step of outbreak investigation whether it be direct or indirect way.

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease and generally affects the lungs, but can also affect other parts of the body. Even XDR-TB that need to be concerned, all TB incidence: HIV-positive TB, MDR/RR-TB, are also need a surveillance system. Hypertension is a non-communicable disease (NCD), more than 90% is often not known, and it is the result of an underlying condition. Moreover, most hypertension cases do not show any symptoms and they are usually accidentally detected by screening. Therefore, for this disease, we need to implement active activity together with passive activity.…[Read more]

In my view, an explicit function of the use of public health surveillance in Thailand is ‘early warning’. For example, when we have a disease outbreak: Avian influenza (H5), Zika virus disease, or even African swine fever virus, every part of health care services and related organizations help each other to support people to prevent that disease.…[Read more]

Firstly, we need to check with the consent form, but in general, most of the consent form always include the information of do not share any private information that can identify to the patients. If it is very necessary and they need to use that information, we need to contact to the patients or clients to do the new consent form.

I agree with you all, as a health information professional, we shouldn’t release any information without consent. For this scenario, generally, the process to treat HIV infected patients also includes counseling services: how to take care of themself, how to prevent the spread of HIV to others, and how to talk with their family, for example. So,…[Read more]

In my opinion, DMSc was failing when changing to use the ilab system. If we consider the ADKAR model,
A (Awareness) DMSc wanted to change the sample registration system because the iLab system showed very successful work when using in regional Medical sciences centers.
D (Desire) We can use this system to implement every step from the sample…[Read more] -

An ilab system is a sample registration for laboratory analysis. At first time, this system is designed for adopting in a regional Medical sciences centre and it is very successful. We can use it for sample registration, tracking, reporting and client contacting. Once we try to apply it in department of medical sciences (DMSc) which has more type…[Read more]

This application has a good concept, students or their parents can use it for guidance when they have got abnormal symptom. Therefore when the application warning for a disease the parents can take their children to healthcare. Moreover, a stakeholder can detect an outbreak from the records, so they can manage and plan what to do next.

This is one of a good project if it is work, people can use this application to observe themself. If they are at a risk, they can go to a hospital or clinic to make sure. In addition, it will be better if the application has some knowledge about the general symptom of TB, how to protect themselves from TB, or even TB treatment.

In my point of view, I also agree with you all, in case of data analysis and data sharing. However, in the case of a user, my friend who is a clinician told me that the use of ICD10 makes her work waste time because the program to search ICD10 is not user-friendly at all. It is very difficult to search for ICD10 related to diseases or symptoms.…[Read more]

In my opinion, the definition of eHealth should refer to the use of technology to implement, facilitate, develop, and even improve all health service steps. For my experience, sequencing data could be considered Big Data.
Both of whole-genome sequencing (WGS) or even whole-exome sequencing (WES) produce a vast volume of data. The data size of WGS per person requires around 100 GB storage (around 3000 million base pairs per person) Regarding analyzing data, to handle with very large data, the data…[Read more]

One thing I realize is we both forgot to concern about the security system or program. The hospital should have or develop a program to protect the system from a phishing email; or, alert when it finds a strange email.
