Hi Ameen, to make use of data, we should have a good system for data collection. There are several challenges related to HIS, including data quality, data privacy & confidentiality, and people who provide input data. It’s not easy to manage, but it isn’t too hard to implement as well.

Hi Pyae, working with EMR at national level is such a big job. I agree that having more knowledge and skills in management, and data utilization would definitely improve your work!

Totally agree with you, as an Informatician, we don’t need to be able to do everything by our own. But we should have related knowledge and communication & team working skills to be able to work with other disciplines and lead HIT projects.

Public health informatics and medical informatics have similar core concepts, such as data standards, privacy & security, data utilization, and IT issues. I hope that knowledge and skills from this class would also help you to apply to your clinical practice. 🙂
