The data breach was due to a Phishing attack in an employee’s email. To prevent such attacks we need to be aware of emails from an unknown sender, anti-virus software should be used and updated as needed. Also, Employees’ awareness and education for phishing techniques are recommended to prevent attacks.

From the report, the Data breach was commenced logging and tracking customers’ activity from the website. Multi-factor authentication, immediate law enforcement, and investigation should be started. The people who are affected by the data breach should be provided with identity protection and credit monitoring service

As mentioned in the report the main cause of the breach was the technical error while testing the bugs using multi-factor authentication.
Employees’ awareness and education, using data encryption, updating software can prevent the attack.
