I work for an insurance company’s claim department. My daily routine rarely uses statistic, except when I make a monthly/yearly claim payment report that I have to use some basic descriptive statistics.
2. Have you ever learned or applied statistics in your work related to data analysis or statistical analysis? Please share your experience.
I have never used statistic intensively with my work but now I am working on my personal project which to use the statistic for my proposal. The objective is to do a lean process. Since we have a lot of processes in claim settlement. Some are quite complex and lead to unsatisfied turnaround time. So, we will analyze the process to see if we can cut off any of sub-processor and develop new settlement method to make the workflow faster yet cost-effective.

I am a physician, worked for the university hospital. My clinical work related to the statistic very much in applying the research outcomes to treat the specific patient. I have to read up-to-date experimental studies and judge their results. Is it worth for application to my patient?2. I have learned the basic statistical analysis since I was a medical student. I know the basic concepts. However, my statistical analysis skills started 3 years later, during residency training. I have to complete 2 research to be certified as an endocrinologist. I was mostly involved in the enrollment and data collection process but little involved in the statistical analysis method. I have an idea for data manipulation to conclude, but the research assistance helps me do the statistical model and analysis of the data using the SPSS program. -

I work as an SAP consultant. The main jobs are to implement the SAP/enhancement project or support the enterprise system in the oil and gas area. The kind of work that I think maybe related to statistics is the project assessment and estimation phase. These phases have to use historical data in the decision process.2. Surely, I have ever learned and applied statistics in my work. For an enterprise system likes SAP, there are a lot of business transaction data that are called ‘Big Data’. To optimize or improve the process, it’s necessary to summarize and analyze the data to find insight. Then the statistics method and tool are used in this work process. -

I am a general practitioner (GP) physician in Nakorn Pathom, Thailand. I make and plan treatments to patients based on evidence-based medicine (EBM). I also observe patients for anecdotal data and personalized treatments, to confirm whether the treatments are successful or not.
As for the EBM, I have to rely on training courses, managed by various health organizations. I rarely truly use primary data for larger scale care planning, e.g. for the hospital / region, only for myself.

Not really, not for my career. I learnt to use statistics here (in BHI) to analyze COVID-19 more sensibly. But, I do hope to learn how to make better quality evidence-based data from my observation; that can better apply to my career. (For example, not some expensive medicine that I rarely use anyway; or caring more about drug compliance or ADR.)

So sorry for replying late
I’m Penpitcha Thawong, now I work as a medical technologist at Genomics Medicine and innovation support, Department of medical science. All of my work is about statistic, after whole genome sequencing, I need to clean up the big data and then summarize them to many other purposes; research, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment, for example. Moreover, now I am responsible for reporting the number of covid-19 testing of all laboratories in Thailand. The visualizations have been presenting on DMSc website, so everyone can download them. -
