How Internet technology is useful for improving the quality of healthcare and medicine in the country? In your country, what are the challenges of using the Internet in healthcare?

Internet technology is very useful because it provide the sources of information that support the clinical guideline, for research a new drug that use to treat the patient, and also provide the useful information to inform people during emergency situation like nowadays(COVID-19 Situation). On the internet, the information will always updated to the newest (ex, Research, paper and journal). And not limited only in our country, we can share the information about healthcare and medicine across the world. So, internet technology is important to us.
In Thailand, I think the biggest challenge is some area or some part of Thailand can not access to the internet. So, it is the limitation for learning something news and be behind the other. Healthcare will not get improve and may cause damage to people’s health.Thank you

I agree with you about the limitation of internet access in some areas. For example, recording activities that the family doctor teams visit the patient’s house is sometimes a struggle if the phone signal is weak. We cannot check-in (to the home visit database online) or update the patient’s status in real-time.

Internet is really helpful in improving healthcare and medicine. With the help of the internet, data collection can now be inputted directly to the system and thus reducing the error in inputting and reading the data compared to manually writing the data. The Internet also enables us to search for many information better and faster. Exchanging information and idea is also easier now. In addition, the internet makes telemedicine possible. Although it is still limited to simple consultation, it is really helpful so people can consult to doctor anytime necessary.
The biggest challenge for internet usage is its unequal distribution across the countries. Some regions in Indonesia have difficulties in connecting to the internet because of the challenging geographical area and limited number of ISPs available. This makes the quality of health varies between the regions.

Internet helps in improving the quality of health care in my area, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic situation. For example, I use the internet to:
1. Expand health care coverage. The patient can access health care easier without traveling to the hospital to cope with minor complaints or counseling, such as minor ailments, virtual home visits, counseling about behavioral modification.
2. Help in medical education. Our residents training in rural areas or in another setting outside the main hospital can study from their setting without traveling, and other settings can share their cases and problems and discuss with students from multiple sites.
3. Expand consultation for specialties from the main hospital. Many rural areas have no specialties (eg. endocrinologist, nutritionist, counselor, psychiatrist) in the hospital. General doctors practicing in rural areas can consult specialties easier.-

I totally agree with No3. Expanding ease to consult would be very helpful for both healthcare providers and patients. Internet combined with reference information model and terminology standard can improve quality and ease of consultation a lot.

Internet technology is improving healthcare in many ways. Such as telemedicine, health information system, health education.
Internet system is one of the most crucial infrastructures in the modern world. The challenge of internet technology is not about infrastructure anymore, even rural areas still have some basic internet technology. But its utilization of internet technology, security, privacy, decision-making system. -

Internet technology has significant roles in healthcare. They provide the information of the health to people whether in basic knowledge of health that all people can access as well as the advance information that the expert can be use in further research and analysis to develop the healthcare system.
In Thailand, as above comments, there are many areas that cannot access to the internet effectively. It is the challenge issue that how can we provide the internet system to accessible to all area equally. In my workplace, there is the setting of telemedicine that facilitate the patient who cannot come to the hospital. The challenge issue of telemedicine is how to communicate with patient correctly and the stability of the system is also should be concerned.

Internet system plays a vital role in the health sector. Clinicians can easily assess all the recent treatment guidelines from all over the world and they can follow these guidelines for the benefit of patients. People in remote areas are consulting with healthcare providers by telemedicine.
On the other hand, some people are misguiding their relatives and friends with health content from the internet which possess serious threats in their life. -

In Thailand, internet can be like a magic wand to improve many aspects of healthcare. Other than accessing to knowledge and guideline, Health Information Exchange(HIE) is the biggest step to improve Thais’ health.
From my own experience, I have a chance to collaborate my hospital to join the HIE Project from Government Big Data Institute(GBDI). We have to adjust our data to be compatible with each other using FHIR7 as a main protocol and then connect to a server of GBDI. This HIE Project will made every hospital joined the project can exchange patient data for treatment purpose. It such a huge move to improve quality of healthcare.
In this project, internet play a major role to transfer data between hospitals and GBDI’s server. In my opinion, to access to internet is a basic thing for most hospital. A challenging thing is not about just using internet but it about data privacy, health data is particular in this issue.

The reason why the internet is essential for improving the healthcare system is that there is a lot of information and knowledge that you can get to improve your practice. Additionally, you can use the internet to facilitate healthcare services such as appointment systems or promote patient health education. And lastly, you can conduct multicenter research or a national registry because of the internet technology.
From my perspective, the challenge of using the internet in healthcare is privacy, especially patient information. -

Internet technology may play crucial role in the improvement of healthcare quality in various aspect. First, electronic prescription which significantly reduces patient waiting time and attenuates the medication errors, especially prescription error. Second, the physician can closely monitor up-to-date laboratory findings, X-ray films, etc. while rounding ward. Third, researcher can easily reach to the data from various hospitals which may increase their sample size and lead to more impact researches. Lastly, it ease to refer the patient to the another hospital.
I suggest that the abrupt changes in old procedure to the new one with Internet technology implementation is the biggest challenge. To my best knowledge, the majority of hospitals in Thailand has not/partially implemented a internet technology in their settings.

Internet technology helps people easily access more medical knowledge and more healthcare services. In part of health literacy, the problem is there is no single and reliable public health website or application to provide correct medical information to their people, unlike in the US which you can find medical information on the CDC website. In Thailand, incorrect medical knowledge is widespread on the internet and causes harm to those who do as provided. So, I think that the government should have one single and reliable medical knowledge website or application to provide correct health literacy, just like in this COVID-19 situation.
For healthcare services, internet technology decreases the gap between the healthcare providers and patients by telemedicine via mobile application. The challenge of telemedicine in Thailand is that law enforcement. As far as I know, there are law-support doctors from the Thai Medical Council of Thailand and the law enforcement of telemedicine in private hospitals. However, public hospitals and other healthcare providers(nurse, pharmacist, physiotherapist, and psychologist) are not under the law about telemedicine. Another concern of telemedicine is data privacy which should be according to Thailand’s PDPA.

Internet technology plays important role in healthcare. We can access medical knowledge or new guideline via internet. In term of hospital system, the information can also exchange via internet technologies.

the internet is very useful to improve the quality of healthcare and medicine. The Internet makes it easier to monitor and evaluate data at each service level can be sent directly for planning and decision-making needs. With the data, information can be generated for advocacy and improvement of healthcare. In addition, the existence of the internet is also an opportunity to increase the capacity of online officers such as the development of e-learning and also telemedicine. The main obstacle in using the internet is that there are still areas that have not been reached by internet services

Internet technology is a valuable tool for communicate with other people around the world via using of complex network. For healthcare and medical filed, internet is the big connector system for communication between patient, health care workforec and physician. Telemedicine is a good example of internet technology implementation in healthcare network which the physician can taking medical history, physical examination by inspection, and taking a medical treatment, distantly. Althought, internet technology generate more benefits in healthcare system, but the challenging issue is data security and privacy. Privacy in health care system is the basic principle in medical treatment that we sould concern. So, if internet technology implementation for medical benefit done, we should make the security system for patient confidentialy purpose, simutaneously.
