I agree that having active detection of hypertension is really important. Diagnosis of hypertension is simple and cheap. Early detection and treatment would really help to prevent complications of the disease.

Yes. Data quality and timeliness of report are very important for outbreak detection and response. Although the system has advanced modules for early warning, but it still relies on the quality of data in the system.

Penpitcha, you raised an interesting point! A system that has been shown to be successful in one place might not be successful when implementing in another place. Each organization (even at small level) has its own culture and system, the system must be able to customize to fit with local users.

CDSS (if well designed) could provide a potential benefit to the EMR. The uses would see the benefit of filling data in the EMR system. However, if not well designed, the CDSS would be ignored and may create negative consequence to the EMR system.
