Internet of Things helps in improving health care by collecting data from various sources (e.g. blood pressure monitor, EKG, O2 Saturation in the blood, an accelerometer to detect movement or physical activities, GPS to detect the position that has a high risk of health), and store them in the database. Those data stored are Big Data that can be processed and predict the health outcome and suggest a better option in health care decision or even alert someone to take action if the patients need assistants. For instance, people with GPS-enabled phone who have been to a place that has a COVID – 19 outbreak can be notified to self-quarantine and visit local health authorities, elderly who has a smart wearable device that can detect the EKG in real-time can be monitored by the physician about their irregular heart rhythm, or the device that has an accelerometer can detect if the elderly falls, and notify the nearest caregiver to assist.
The challenges, in my opinion, are the data organizing which the data from different sources manage in a different manner and cannot be connected easily, and for users who are an end-user cannot purchase the devices that are essential to send the data or have not enough electronic health literacy to handle the technologies.

IoT and Big Data will play a major role in improving healthcare quality at the present.
Vast adoption of IoT into people’s daily life will change our thoughts about healthcare.
Healthcare will not be only about going to hospital, but also relevant to every activities that we did.
With IoT, we can collect much more data than what we can imagine, such as everything measured at hospital, daily pulse rate, daily blood pressure, movement, dietary, sleep tracking ,etc.
Using these data integrate with Big Data we can reach novel insights that can be help improving healthcare quality. Some day, with these data, we might knows many challenging health threat much more earlier than now, hence we can prevent threats and treat diseases more effectively.First thing that came into my mind about what to be concerned is privacy.
To collect as much data as possible have to be considered carefully about privacy. We should balance between benefits and drawbacks carefully.
Another challenging issue should be about budget. Massive adoption of IoT means that everyone gaining benefits from IoT should has their own devices and organizations who want to use these data must invest in systems and people to have ability to reach optimal benefits of IoT and Big Data.-

Absolutely true.
Adopting IoT in healthcare needs to consider the privacy and confidentiality. We need to pre-define what data should be collected and not to be indentfiable data.
Nice post.

Use of wearable devise to detect various data such as heart rate, body temperature and blood pressure is increasingly being used in medical/ healthcare field. The technology, also known as IoT, contributes to early detection and prevention of diseases by collecting data through wearable device and network.
Big data in medical/ healthcare field, which IoT is one of the information sources, can be used for various research or development of treatment/ medicine, or disease prevention.
The biggest challenge in utilizing the big data is security. Medical/ healthcare big data contains the personal information with health/ medical history. The utmost efforts must be taken to protect patients’ privacy, when dealing with the big data in medical/ healthcare industry.-

I agree with you that the patient’s privacy is one of the important concerns. Many apps (especially health data which always include personal information) that collect data must declare how the data is collected or used in order to get consent from the users.

IoT and Big data have been evolved rapidly in the past ten years. Benefit from the recent development of compact hardware, always-on device and always connecting to the internet. I will discuss these two things separately.
First, the Internet of Things. A simplistic explanation of IoT is a set of devices that connecting to a network. These devices gathering data from users such as heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood glucose level, EKG. Sending health data to the internet for data storage and processing. And present the result to users or notify a caregiver. Resulting in the improvement of individual health care quality.
The challenges of IoT are usability, accuracy, security, and the most important challenge is a type of health data that can’t be measure with current technology.
Second, Big data. Big data is usually having a more real-time, more complex, higher volume of data set than traditional data. A recent example of big data in healthcare is the information of COVID-19.
The challenge of Big data are the inconsistency of data from various users that need to be clean up be for analyzing. -

With IoT and Big Data, we can connect, collect, and analyze many kinds of data that relevant to improve healthcare. For example, it can play a big role in the public health sector. Combine and analyze various healthcare data that could be used to estimate disease patterns, predicting outbreaks and transmission, and develop early warning system.
The challenges of this, because the data come from many sources, it tend to be messy thus the data quality must be assured. It also can be expensive. Besides building the technology component (server, high-end computer devices, etc), we also need to train the people so they could be able to use the technology. -

The healthcare sectors are improving due to the advancement of technologies, the Internet of Things(IoT) has a significant role in it. Most of the devices in the healthcare facilities used are connected with sensors, data are collected, and then they are connected with smart devices. So, the health expert can easily monitor the changes in patients’ data, analyze and decide virtually.
On the other hand, data privacy, security are the challenges of using the IoT. -

Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data can improve healthcare in terms of store the large scale of information and perform real-time updated information. IoT connected the health care system together, devices, data , and people, including analyze data. It will facilitate healthcare system to be more perfectively. I agree with other, The challenge of IoT and big data in healthcare would be competency of user because it kind of things that user have to learn before using them and should be responsible for the some private data.

Internet of Things and Big Data are improving healthcare in every aspect. For example, in terms of promoting health, we use IoT to monitor the health status such as use smartwatch to monitor the heart rate while exercise, counting steps in each day to improve and promote exercise habits. We use IoT to identify the patient and monitor patient personal history to prevent the mistaken in treatment. IoT plays the important role in treatment process, they makes the treatment process faster, more accurate and more precise treatment plan until the rehabilitation process to promote the better patient outcome and high quality care. The challenges of embracing all these technologies in healthcare organization including the availability to use, how to allocate the resources available to all target population as well as the stability of the network. How to analyze the big data in real-time without lagging along with protect the user’s privacy and security are also the challenges that we should concern.

Differents aspects of healthcare are affected by the Internet of Things and Big Data. We can collect more data, that cannot obtain before, like vital sign monitoring, sleeping, EKG, blood glucose, exercise time, and calories usage by using wearable devices such as smartwatches. It can improve accessibility to healthcare like in case of falling in elderly which can be detected by a smartwatch and timely activate medical services. Big data that we obtain from IoT can be used in various ways like disease surveillance, health promotion, personalized medicine, and public health policy. But, there are concerns about the confidentiality of data and data security which may cause harm to the owner. Another issue is about how to use and interpret big data in the general population, it can lead to more disadvantages if misinterpreted.

Internet of Things (IoT) can provide the real-time patient information which facilitates the health care provider works. It tends to make better decisions in treatment plan. In addition, it also stores the patient information in the database which can further involve in certain medical research. The healthcare data is commonly huge so it is required the implementation of Big Data technology to store and analyze data.
In my opinion, the unprecedented introduction of novel IoT and Big Data technology in the healthcare settings is the biggest challenge since it is required an amount of times to adjust to the new technolgy.
