This might be a late question that I should ask as the beginning, I am confused as to how/where you get raster (aerial or satellite) images from? Do you have to purchase them or can they be downloaded/made?
First of all should find out what kind of object you need to detect on ground and its characteristic then choose the satellite to match that character.
