The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and PDPA (Privacy and Data Protection Act ) are both important privacy laws that protect individuals’ rights and help to protect the confidentiality of their personal information. The GDPR is an EU law that protects the rights of individuals whose data has been collected and stored by organizations. We discussed different case scenarios related to the breach of personal data as follows;
Several personal data records from Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH) have been found in a public recycling facility that has been fined €65,000 by the Data Protection Commission (DPC).
Data breaches occurred under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and consisted of a large number of documents, personal data of 78 people and the special category ( sensitive ) personal data of six of them. Among the data are race and ethnicity, religious beliefs, political views, biometric information (identifying), gender, and sexual orientation.
