I think, It’s a best project for patient can detect blood and health status by your self before get sick or early detection. Standard of device measure and patient of family measurement knowledge is very important before use this application. It’s worth investment and combine with other health status such as BP, weight, high and other.

It is a nice idea to have telehealth for the diseases that patients can monitor themselves and send the data via an application to health care providers. Health care providers can make a decision in real-time for any extreme glucose level and patients might reduce the frequency of their hospital visits if they can control their glucose level. It will help us much to reduce the physicians’ workload at the DM clinic and improve patients satisfaction. Moreover, frequent self-monitoring blood glucose (SMBG) can improve their diabetes control by giving feedback data on them for the way they eat.
However, as an endocrinologist who takes care of diabetes patients. I think the cost of this project is very high, not for the application but on the cost of SMBG because of 1 test of SMBG cost about 25 baht. If you need more information to detect the event of express how well diabetes controlled, patients need to pay more.-

Hi Khun Nakarin….I would like to add some comments supplementary to of Khun Tullaya…. apart from the clinical concerns detailed by her as an Endocrinologist, I think the point that the data must be filled into the application by the patient themself may affect the adherence of the self-monitoring. The cost is quite cheap comparing to other automated glucose monitoring tool already available in markets but its effectiveness may not worth the money. The most concerns is that self entry of such clinical data may be deliberately inaccurate filling in by the patients. What I heard often is that much-uncontrolled blood sugar related to food behaviour and fear of being blamed for the uncontrollable and of being hypo. Look at its “health-on-our-hand” side, it’d be more helpful for pt. if the app. can give some near-real-time feedback on trends of their blood sugar, and tips on how to manage their blood sugar based on their personal data and behaviour. The options may help pt. be more aware of their behaviour and be more empowered before due to an appointment with the doctor.
