Saranath replied to the topic ปัญหาที่เคยเจอในการเก็บข้อมูลงานวิจัย in the forum Topic Discussion Week1 4 years, 2 months ago

Thanks for your informative and comprehensive presentation regarding the scrub typhus surveillance. As other students already mentioned about the challenge of disease diagnosis and report, which may lead to underreport of the cases. What’s about having a syndromic surveillance to determine the use of Doxycycline?

The presentation is great, although it’s a bit longer than what we asked for. The audio-visual is very helpful. As dengue is a vector-borne disease, it’s good that your surveillance considers the full cycle of the disease transmission-host, vector, environment. I have a question on the data flow diagram. The arrows in data diagram indicated tha…[Read more]

The overall presentation and audio-visual is great! I’m glad that you brought up the challenges of your surveillance system, as it would involve many stakeholders. I also like that you think about holistic approach to the AMR problem, not only focus on human. But when working with many stakeholders from different discipline, change management is r…[Read more]

Great presentation. The audio-visual is appropriate and helpful.
I agree with your friends’ suggestions. Particularly, on the data flow, I think the media (event-based) might not be able to help detect COVID in this situation, as it needs confirmation test and timeline from the hospitals and MOPH.

Great and comprehensive presentation. I’m glad that you use workflow symbols to help for understanding. It would be great if you could explain the need of sentinel surveillance. What additional dat would be needed for the sentinel data collection?

Thanks for sharing! To summarize from everyone ideas, the main challenge would be:
– How to get an “early” enough data input.
– Trustable data analysis and warning (Accuracy, sensitivity, PPV) -

Yes! So, we must be aware of indirect identifiable data. Particularly, when we scope down the population into a small size.

Saranath replied to the topic Week 3 Topic 2 Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC)? in the forum TMHG528 Disease Surveillance and Public Health Investigation 2020 4 years, 3 months ago
Not all dangerous communicable diseases in disease surveillance Act 2015 are considered as PHEIC. The PHEIC must be declared by the international organization network (AKA. WHO).

Agree to you all! The challenge of this issue is that the great impact of PM 2.5 (such as cancer, or other chronic diseases) might be long-term. It doesn’t like other infectious diseases that people can actually see a great short-term impact from the outbreak. Moreover, this problem usually comes and goes every during winter season, not throughout…[Read more]

Thanks for the fruitful discussion! In my opinion, both PM did a good job in communicating the outbreak situation in the VDOs. However, if you watch other speech or interviews of the President Trump, there have been uncertainty and inconsistency in his interviews regarding the pandemic. Particularly, the emphasizing in preventive measures (wearing…[Read more]

Good discussion among you all! Both overestimated and underestimated number of cases could have impacts on public health. So, evaluation of data quality is an important indicator to monitor the performance of the surveillance system.

I think, besides the IDI and FGD, observation method is also interesting to explore (if possible). Sometimes, you will never understand that person’s situation or thought, until you put yourself in someone’s shoes.

Agree! RSV can cause a severe disease in children. When there is an outbreak, a school has to be closed. This could have a large impact on parents and schools.

If we have a surveillance system for Zika, we would need a system that can detect mild or asymptomatic infection, which the conventional passive surveillance might not be enough.

If Zika surveillance is considered as highly important, there should have more other similar diseases be considering as highly important. Such as dengue, or toxoplasmosis (cause congenital anomaly). What do you think?
