I think we should find and train more people who could create values in Health Informatics, leading a project, and creating a health product. Only then can we count competent personnel in Health Informatics.
Distribution is equally important as well, just like in PMAC clip about UHC, where a smart local people works devotedly to help their…[Read more]

Of course, not just sharing, but also letting the public knows that the data exists. Perhaps via a website. Just like open data sources to Machine Learning (ML)
But before that I have a lot to discuss with perhaps a lawyer??? There is always a possibility of rights breaching… Even after the consent is given, we have to consider if one wants to…[Read more]

UHC is a too-good-to-be-true project, that may be challenging to implement in some countries. I think I relies on socialism, rather than capitalism; so it depends on how socialistic the government is.
Hard to say about the state of US government, but it does depend on state’s infrastructure.
Although the success also depends on lack of…[Read more]

I don’t know much about Net Pracharat, but I can say that it is in a good direction, albeit similar to most infrastructure laying — prone to corruption, while looking beautiful only on the surface.
Government is often not good at managing high quality products, and it becomes better when manage by private sectors. That’s why Internet Speed isn’t…[Read more]

Apparently, better EMR does require User Experience analysis, and it is not always intuitive, yet does not provide much useful data; that is, futility and burdensome.
So, I conclude that EMR vs paper-based have the following
– Advantages
– Querying through the data
– Easy to read
– Disadvantages
– Not always intuitive
– Cost of…[Read more] -

Missing Data
– We need to learn and educate on what can Big Data do, and cannot; instead of either relying on wild assumptions or mindlessly collecting everything. Good education will help health personnel cooperate.Selection Bias

A clear health care improvement is PACS, an X-ray imaging system. As you can retrieve as X-ray you want anytime and anywhere, the treatment is getting quicker.
Of course, there is currently still a problem connecting between hospitals.
There should be more attempt to scan / OCR’d hospital document. In-patient visit’s document is done at my older…[Read more]

As my current organization is a small hospital, it would be best to backup data incrementally or differentially to central and probably multiple locations.
Full backup from time-to-time might be nice, but it isn’t very cost-effective.

Reliability, especially in emergency times, might can be at night or mass incident; where there are can be a lack of personnel or having high loads.
The problem is, will it be made a priority for smaller hospitals.

In my hospital, both the username and password are guessable. Username follows ordinal order at the end (/d+$/), and password is same as username by default.
I guess I can login to any doctor’s account.

I think Chinese government should approach the social media with more empathy about the possible outbreak, what is known and what action as been done up to now; rather than using too simple a message.

I think it starts with awareness, that is also, health promotion, which is competitive and relative with other issues as well, such as pesticide use.
However, on pollution in Northern Thailand, it is indeed emergency, according to the news, but impact needs to be emphasized, as well of cost of changing versus cost of not changing.
Lastly, there…[Read more]

I think firstly, we have to focus on interoperability and data sharing. How advanced actually in the technology is beyond that.
We have to go back to achieve what is the most basic. — interconnectedness

Not only magnitude, but also accuracy / clearness of the data leads to clear action from the government, and probably public sector (e.g. pharmaceuticals, NGO). To improve treatment, no underestimation/overestimation cannot be over-emphasized.

IT can help with outbreak investigation in many steps, such as
– Establishing the existence of the outbreak — although IT cannot really make the diagnosis faster, the standardization of the system can make first case reporting faster and more accurate; but the also depends on an accurate case definition and coding system.
– Develop hypothesis…[Read more]

I would choose a disease based on Highly-transmissible or High-severity, as well as, less done by other people.
I would consider regional diseases, that may be forgotten by western people, such as Tuberculosis or Melioidosis, as it can possibly be totally eliminated from the country.

Influenza is a good one, as the symptom varies, and it does carry a big health burden; as well as it is infectious and potentially preventable.
Syndromic surveillance at PCU might have prevent outbreaks faster, but the problem is false positives, which we might tally several symptoms found at PCU and do statistical analysis.
If done well, it can…[Read more]
