Arwin Jerome Manalo Onda replied to the topic If you are in charge of a data set from your country in the forum Week 3 : Discussion 2 years, 10 months ago
I’m joining the “yes” side just like everyone else. As explained by the guest speakers, sharing data enables endless possibilities. A hurdle experienced by one researcher may be answered by another researcher through data sharing.
In the context of COVID-19, one of the best examples of data sharing is making the sequence of COVID-19 variants…[Read more]

Arwin Jerome Manalo Onda replied to the topic What are your suggestions in the forum Week 2 : Discussion 2 years, 11 months ago
I think there should be a laid protocol on handling missing data especially during analysis. This will help in reducing biases in the study. This is similar in conducting systematic reviews – a a priori set of methodology is in place to avoid potential bias after the data have been extracted from its sources. Consultations with relevant experts of…[Read more]

Arwin Jerome Manalo Onda replied to the topic What the good and bad of using EMR in the forum Week 2 : Discussion 2 years, 11 months ago
I don’t have an EMR experience but I generally do agree with Auswin’s points raised. Digitalization promises ease of access to its users; however, not all are accustomed to embrace it. As per personal experience, it is the elderly who are lagging behind the adoption of these electronic e.fforts Other factors include the difficulty of embracing…[Read more]

Arwin Jerome Manalo Onda replied to the topic Please give your view on the four recommended points in the forum Week 1 : Discussion 2 years, 11 months ago
I do generally agree with the recommendations and I agree with my colleagues that these aren’t easy to execute. Corruption has been one of the enemies of holistic success of a nation. Some people have leveraged other people’s weaknesses to make them as their strengths – usually abuse of power to gain hold of money while taking less of…[Read more]

Arwin Jerome Manalo Onda replied to the topic Please providing an example of health system improvement in the forum Week 1 : Discussion 2 years, 11 months ago
One of the health system improvements I could think of is COVID-19 vaccination appointment in the Philippines. It was early 2021 when vaccines were rolled out in the Philippines. At that time, there is no real system for enrollment. The person will just walk-in to the vaccination site and wait for hours to be vaccinated. In other areas like ours,…[Read more]

The Cisco’s Disaster Recovery document elaborated the best practices in developing plans in times of disaster. In developing the disaster recovery plan, it must constitute the following:
1. Identification of possible threats (physical or environmental) that may cause the disaster. A risk analysis is crucial for this part of the plan, which are…[Read more]

Good point on the crucial advantage of highly available HIS in times of emergencies. In medical care, seconds matter so it is important that information is always there when needed.

Having a highly available technology will ease the flow of patient information across healthcare professionals. A doctor can instantaneously pull up a patient result freshly generated from the laboratory. Shorter queues and reduced waiting times are some of the few benefits a highly available technology can bring, especially in this time of…[Read more]

WFH is both a blessing and curse – blessing because it distances us from being infected but a curse because of extended working times which lead to mental exhaustion!

Many people continually relies on government subsidy when it comes to healthcare, especially that COVID-19 care is expensive here in our country and our national health insurance program does not cover all the costs associated with COVID-19. Concurrently, the economic sector of every country fell significantly. This led into shortages of funds due…[Read more]

Arwin Jerome Manalo Onda replied to the topic Week 2 Topic Discussion : Gantt chart in the forum TMHG526 Organizational Behavior and Management Skills2021 3 years ago
I think the maintenance portion is a continuing work, and placing it in a GANTT chart would not be ideal unless you aim to provide maintenance work only for a certain period of time as agreed upon with your client.

I agree with Prof. Wirichada’s observation on the unit of time here, since it is crucial to check whether the project is a short or long one. During our live session, I shared that I usually keep 2 versions of GANTT chart, one is for myself (stricter deadlines but workable) and the other is the one submitted or made known. This will help in…[Read more]

I also do feel accomplished waking up early in the morning! Before, I would wake up at around 9 to 10 am. It began to felt that I wasted a lot of time already. Since then, I started to sleep early and wake up. It feels more refreshing than ever. My mind is more focused and able to concentrate better.
Thanks for sharing!
