I conducted a primary data collection study on thiamine deficiency among pregnant women at Rajavithi Hospital, Thailand. The study collected demographic data, obstetric history, self-reported symptoms, physical examination findings, and laboratory results to support the diagnosis of subclinical thiamine deficiency and to evaluate its potential impact on maternal and infant health outcomes.
Participants were also contacted via the LINE application and asked to submit a 3-day photographic food record to allow further assessment of their actual dietary intake and nutritional status.
Data were collected at Rajavithi Hospital using a paper-based case report form (CRF), which was completed through interviews conducted by trained research staff during Visit 1. Additional dietary data were submitted subsequently.
Photographic dietary records were analyzed by a nutritionist who was blinded to laboratory results and physical examination findings to minimize bias.
However, compliance with the photographic food diary submission was suboptimal, which created significant challenges during the data analysis process.to
