If you implement the High Availablity technology in your hospital information system (HIS), in your opinion, what benefits will patients and hospital receive?

If we implemented high availability technology for HIS, there will be benefit in both patient and hospital. For patient, they will get faster and reliable service from hospital. these benefits come from minimizing downtime that could interrupt patient service in the hospital interface, also RAID and load balancing technology that improve speed of connection within hospital. The hospital will get benefit that they can work seamlessly even some of system is fail. They could assure that the crucial data are not destroyed, and their server are not overload until physically damage by using load balancer.

Benefit for patient
1. No loss of benefit in available medical history data for treatment
2. Medical reconciliation can continue.
3. No delayed treatment due to unavailable data.
Benefit for hospital
1. Available medical history data for decision making on treatment
2. No repeated record data to server again when system was available
3. No loss of benefit for medical expense claim. -

There are many benefits for implementing the High Availability technology in the hospital information system (HIS) both patients benefits and hospital benefits includes:
Hospital
1. The staff in the hospital can access the data anytime without the downtime of the server.
2. The time of service will flow continually without interruption of the hospital information system.
3. Receive a high score of user satisfraction.
Patient
1. A patient receives a fast, good, and high quality of service in a hospital.
2. A patient can believe a hospital information system in terms of system availability, and data integrity. -

Because healthcare system is very essential to medical treatment in the hospital, keeping the system and network available at all time of need will benefit not only to the patients but also health personnel too. In matter between life and death, information can determine fate of the patient.

Hospital benefits: High availability HIS provide hospital users such as doctor, laboratorian, and other staff who need to use the information can access it in timely manner. Effective diagnosis, treatment or analysis data are the results of the accessibility. The hospital service system also can continue and increase satisfaction of system users (both patient and hospital staff)
Patient benefits: Patients receive better hospital service and higher quality of diagnosis, treatment and prevention. High quality of hospital service and medication can reduce time and cost that patients have to loss. -

If the High avaibility is implemented to HIS of the hospital, the benefits will be obtained from both sides. That is medical personnel and patients. The physicain or medical staffs can access to information continuous and fast any time they want and make sure that have no downtime and lack. The data was stored for safe and privacy. As a result, it can help treat patients more effectively. Reduces operational time for healthcare workers or workloads.

As we have learned that HA refers to a set of technologies that minimize IT disruptions by providing business continuity of IT services through redundant, fault-tolerant, or failover-protected components inside the same data center which mean that a system is on-line and ready for access without interruption.
So, my opinion think that the benefits of HA to the patient and the hospital are:
1. Patient
– Save time to receive the service or treatment.
– Save cost for traveling to receive the service,
– These will increase the satisfaction.2. Hospital:
– Can access/use all IT 24/7 in all authorized access control which will increase their performance to provide the services such as administrator section, lab section, pharmacy section, nurse section and financial section etc.
– Save cost in enter or find the data of the patient and labor cost as well.
– Save time in every services process (Turn around time)
– All of the above will increase the satisfaction of the patient/ customer. -

Currently, most hospitals rely on the online EMR applications; emergency rooms and first responders depend on IT systems. Hospitals need to ensure that they can continue to function and will not be tasked with the difficultly of back loading hours of activity if just the smallest outage occurs. Thus, hospitals require the High Availability technology in their hospitals information system (HIS) to continue working and saving people’s life. Also, HA benefits to patients such as saving time and receiving high efficiency of care.

The main benefit to patients might be less delay in getting the services they need (especially in cases of emergency). Other benefits are less chance to lose health data, which is important to both patients and the hospital itself, reducing overload of the system and the workflow, creating satisfaction to both service providers and consumers.

The hospital information system is as important as the patients’ lives. If the HIS is failed or experiences a system downtime in the practice, then it would greatly affect healthcare services to the patients, and in severe cases, it would threaten the lives of the patients. That’s why high availability technology should be implemented in the HIS.
Benefits for the patient
• Get comprehensive and safe health care services around the clock
• Experience the quality services from the registration section to the billing sectionBenefits for the hospital
• Able to maintain the hospital information system 24/7
• High-quality management system that will operate day and night
• Will be regarded as a patient-trusted hospital -

The benefits of HA infrastructure for patient and hospital are as follow.
Reduction of downtime with back up for 24 hour
Cost effectiveness as there will be high performance with HA
Data security is more ensured
Continuity of server data with better service
