Most people have already discussed the disadvantages of not using ICD-10. I would like to explore hypothetical scenarios where not having ICD-10 could be considered advantageous. Firstly, healthcare providers might find documentation simpler and less time-consuming without the need for specific ICD-10 codes. Secondly, the flexibility in describing patients’ conditions would not be limited by a predefined coding system. This freedom could lead to more detailed and nuanced descriptions of illnesses and symptoms, potentially enhancing the understanding of individual patient cases. However, I believe there might not be enough benefit in terms of data standardization, especially when it comes to sharing information with others.
