As my background is in nursing with my major role is providing direct patient care, I have involved a lot to patients’ data in each day.During the transformation period from paper-based to electronic based system in our work, we cannot denied that the traditional way of data management gives us ineffective and unorganised data which could affect quality of care and patient outcome. Implementing nursing information system is a critical plan of my organisation and I will be a part who response in this role in the future. To be a nursing informaticist, I need to gain more knowledge in computational and mathematical science including IT and also management and social science skills. In health informatics role, apart from collaboration with other health professionals, I will have an opportunity to work with programmers or developers (like K.Weerapat). If I have better understanding in what IT professionals work and I acknowledge the requirements of stakeholders (by developing management and social science skills), I will be able to design and implement effective information systems for my organisation in the future.
